REINFORCING CAMARADERIE AND LEADERSHIP TOWARDS A FAVORABLE ECOSYSTEM: “Think, Act, Get Involved, Protect Our Nature” Girl Scouts of the Philippines 22nd Junior/Senior Provincial Encampment 2013
Having your subordinates comply or abide by your order doesn’t justify good leadership. Good leadership is about respect and it is about considering the general welfare. It is even greater if it involves the goodness of our milieu- our planet. The recently concluded GSP encampment was held on November 15-17, 2013 at Stella Mariz, Bagac, Bataan. The program proper was initiated by an opening ceremony. This includes welcoming remarks given by Dr. Anita M. De Dios, Council President of Bataan GSP. It was followed by significant ceremony-flag raising as a token of the official commencement of the event. The aforementioned opening was tagged along by worth-remembering activities which cater to the different talents and inclinations of the participants. The following are the conducted events:
In addition, our delegates from Balanga City garnered awards in the said competitions.
To wrap it up, the purpose of camping for Scouts is not to teach our youth to be outdoor experts. Although many discover a tremendous love for the out-of-doors, and may hike, camp and canoe all their adult lives for recreation although this is not the mission of scout camping. The purpose is to develop good values, leadership, citizenship, and fitness and to prepare scouts for adulthood. |
